Does marriage counseling really work?

I’m a Christian and my husband claims to be. I’ve prayed 26 years for him to be the man of the house and he never has. I FINALLY asked for a Divorce and now all of a sudden he wants to change everything about him self like he did 16 years ago when I asked for a divorce then. Why can’t I leave him?? Why do I feel guilty. He is a good man but I just feel nothing and now that he is trying to hard I want to puke. Has ANYONE been in this situation? Are you a Christian and divorced…remarried? Was it worth it? Regrets??
